Sofia Clementina Hosszufalussy

Half Hungarian and half Italian, born in Italy (Como) and trained as architect (Milan, Brussels), Sofia Clementina Hosszufalussy moves between spatial design and art. Through her research and practice, she developed a specific tension and sensitivity towards textiles art and hand-weaving, starting her own production of fabrics questioning and experimenting with tools and techniques, focusing on the spatial and physical implications textiles can generate.

The aim of her practice is to stimulate the relationship between arts, textiles, bodies and space, creating a field where to express and share her sensibility through experimentation and hybridisation of uses and techniques, using hand-weaving and textile manipulation as her privileged tool.

In 2022, after some important trainings and travels (like the 2 months spent in Morocco working side by side with different artisans working with textiles), SCH founded SZOF, a project that combines craftsmanship, design, art.

Raw and precious. Strong and delicate. Unfinished yet ready, trusting the process. 

Interwoven threads, hands, paths: artworks, workshops, everyday products, spatial installations.

ovember 2021: first art residency at Lottozero (Prato, Italy). SCH encounters her first big 8-shafts loom and becomes a hand weaver.
